The bariatric surgeon from Pune helped the hair transplant surgeon from Hyderabad to reduce his weight and the Hyderabad surgeon helped the Pune surgeon to grow hair on his head. Both the doctors did not charge any professional fee to each other
This just might be one of the most uncommon cases of barter exchange between two doctors. It is unusual to see two doctors treating each other for non-life-threatening treatment. A bariatric surgeon and a hair restoration surgeon from two different cities in India not only convinced each other of their specialties but also treated each other.
The bariatric surgeon from Pune helped the hair transplant surgeon from Hyderabad to reduce his weight and the Hyderabad surgeon helped the Pune surgeon to grow hair on his head.
Dr Puli Ravindra Reddy, a Hair Restoration surgeon had approached Dr Shashank Shah in 2011 when he was suffering from hypertension and issues related to being overweight. Dr Reddy said, When I searched for a good bariatric surgeon I came to know about Dr Shah. I underwent a surgery in 2011. I was 135 kgs before the surgery and I now weigh 93 kgs. I am able to maintain this weight and I see him for follow ups.
I did not intend to undergo hair restoration treatment. When Dr Reddy was being treated under me, I later came to know about the detail treatment available for hair restoration. Meanwhile, the two of us became good friends. The doctor then called me to Hyderabad and performed a hair restoration treatment on me,said Dr Shah.
Both the doctors did not charge any professional fee to each other. Nothing was planned. We just came to know about each other's specialties and both of us underwent surgery, added Dr Shah.
“Doctors commonly treat each other for the chronic ailments and life-threatening diseases. But, two doctors unknown to each other and treating each other for non-life saving procedure is very uncommon, said Dr Shah.
Recently in May 2017, we met and examined each other. Each of us have excellent results and are doing well after the surgery, said Dr Reddy.
